Why Familea

What Families Find Here

A Structured Path

Each programme follows a clear sequence with prepared materials, so participants know what to expect from the first session onward.

Shared Understanding

Reading and discussing the same material together helps families build a common vocabulary for the issues they are working through.

Gentle Pacing

Sessions are spaced to allow reflection between meetings. Nothing is rushed. Participants are welcome to revisit earlier materials at any point.

Clear Scope

Familea is an educational organisation. We do not offer counselling, mediation, or legal or financial guidance — which helps participants know exactly what to bring.

Locally Grounded

Operating from Ipoh, our programmes reflect the rhythms and expectations of families in Perak and across peninsular Malaysia.

Quality Source Materials

All reading packs draw from publicly available adult-education resources. Participants leave with materials they can revisit independently.

Common Questions

Questions About Familea

What happens in a Sibling Conversation Session?
Each session follows a workbook that addresses a specific topic — such as dividing care responsibilities or discussing the family home. The facilitator guides participants through structured exercises and questions. Sessions do not involve counselling or any interpretation of individual legal or financial circumstances.
How many sessions are in the Sibling Conversation series?
The series is typically four sessions held over four to six weeks. The pace can be adjusted by arrangement before the series begins. The RM 420 fee covers the full series, including all workbook materials.
Do I need to attend the Reading Group every month?
No. Each month's Reading Group meeting is self-contained, so you can attend in any month that suits you. The RM 280 fee is per meeting. Participants who attend regularly find the ongoing discussions useful, but it is not a sequential programme.
What does the Workplace Workshop deliver?
The workshop is designed for HR teams. The deliverable is a written programme plan, a set of facilitator notes drawn from adult-education materials, and a printed reading-pack template the team can use internally. We do not deliver advice directly to employees and do not provide services needing regulated qualifications.
Are these programmes available online or only in person?
Our programmes are primarily held at our Ipoh premises. For the Workplace Workshop, we can discuss whether a site visit to your organisation in Perak or the surrounding region is appropriate. Please enquire for details.
Is what I share in a session kept private?
Sessions operate on a principle of mutual discretion. Participants are asked at the start of each series not to share what others say outside the room. Familea does not record or publish any personal information shared in discussion.
